Describing the mechanisms by which different wavelengths of light impact the cells, tissues and organs of the human body, and how specifically timed light exposure of specific wavelengths can be used to improve sleep, enhance alertness, modulate hormone levels, and improve mood. I also explain the use of ultraviolet and infrared phototherapies to relieve pain increase testosterone and estrogen levels; improve skin health, appearance and wound healing; and how red light can be used to offset age-related vision loss and provide neuroprotection. Throughout the episode, I describe the mechanisms of light-based therapies and actionable tools that people can use positively impact mental and physical health.
NIR (Near-Infrared) light is neuroprotective. These interventions not only reduce cellular apoptosis, but also improve the tissue healing by improving the blood flow to the tissues. Let's review how photobiomodulation works to help mitochondria heal and function correctly.
Near infrared light therapy reduces inflammatory mediators by 50% and IL6 by 80%.
In the morning and evening sunlight, being in green places should be an important part of life.
We’ve all come to expect certain changes when it comes to aging—so-called “senior moments”—forgetting names and faces and searching for the right words. We’ve seen these as a normal part of aging. But, what if that wasn’t the case? In this video, Dr. Bredesen joins to discuss the Bredesen Seven, 7 key lifestyle habits that protect and restore brain health. Nutrition, exercise, supplements, stress management, brain stimulation, detoxification, and quality sleep all have a BIG impact on brain health. ...and nutrition is high on that list.
Margaret Naeser, PhD, is located at the Boston VA Medical Center, and is Research Professor of Neurology, Boston University School of Medicine. Since 2009, she has studied the effect of red/near-infrared (NIR) light-emitting diodes (LED) placed over the scalp/brain to treat sequelae of traumatic brain injury (TBI), PTSD, stroke/Aphasia, Dementia, Gulf War Illness, and most recently, retired, Pro-Football players possibly developing chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

He gained his PhD in organic chemistry from Trent University in England.
